Dashwire 2.0 launches, mobile finally meets web

Digital content sharing from mobile to desktop is all the rage at every show we've been to in the last year, and frankly, we'd grown a bit tired of it. We had a chance to hook up with the gents from Dashwire in recent times and the Dashwire push and pull solution fairly blew our socks off. Of course, this has been around for a little while now, but it seems baby's all grown up and Dashwire 2.0 is set for release today. How much does all this cost and is it worth playing with? It's completely free and follow on to read more -- but by way of a hint, we're still cheering.

Verzio Envii evokes mixed emotions, envy maybe included

We've seen very little from Verzio, in the past, and we have to admit that this foray in the Wonderfully Weird World of Windows Mobile looks like a pretty strong start. While not loaded with Windows Mobile 6.1, the Envii -- clever bit of naming there, huh? -- does have a 624MHz CPU, 1GB ROM, 2.7-inch QVGA screen, triple-band GSM with 1900 and 2100MHz UMTS / HSDPA, Bluetooth, and WiFi. With the bases well covered in the hardware, the software needs updating is the next topic of interest, but sadly no big mysteries save for the "Verzio Flick Dynamic" which may be some type of Touch UI, but we're not clear and Verzio wasn't too forthcoming. No word on pricing or availability, but hit the site if you're dying for more.

Telus launches Samsung SPH-A523, is way late to the party

Need slim, svelte, cool, and pretty outdated? Telus has you sorted with its new -- to them, anyway -- Samsung A523, also known as the Mysto from Helio, and the Samsung Ultra 10.9 in the GSM world. Features are tight with a 2 megapixel cam, QVGA display, weighing a measly 84 grams, with a standby time of about 577 hours. Pricing is decent at $99 on three years, $149 on 2, $299 if one year's your thing, and outright purchase for $349. The A523 is sitting pretty on the Telus site as we speak, so if you're in the mood for an upgrade, swing on by.

Alltel boasts Samsung's SCH-R430 MyShot in black or red

Sure, Alltel's Samsung SCH-R430 MyShot may not be laden with every bell and whistle that cell manufacturers can bestow on a device, but for $30 bones after rebate, who cares? This looks to be the ideal Ma and Pa cellular vehicle with 205 mins talk and 215 hours standby time -- so it's always charged when retrieved from the glovebox -- a 1.3 megapixel camera, and is even GPS-capable. Color choices include Metallic Red and Basic Black, so a his and hers arrangement isn't out of the question -- we think that's just about the cutest thing a couple can do. Gilded Samsung D780 is official for Russian Olympic team

Released in May of this year, the Samsung D780 must have turned enough heads that is was given the high honor of being the official handset of the Russian Olympic team. Perhaps the color thrilled? Maybe the fast and flowing lines or that certain je ne sais quoi brought about by gem encrusted or golden technology? Either way, the team will be enjoying tri-band GSM with EDGE, support for two SIM cards, 2.1-inch QVGA screen, FM radio, Bluetooth, microSD memory expansion, and a whole lot of gold. No price was given, but it is expected to be shipping by August this year.

Samsung bares its Soul in fresh and frosty pink

It's rehash day chez Samsung, the very popular Soul is just out of the paint shop and is definitely pretty in pink. The handset still boats everything it did before, Magic Touch navigation, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, 5 megapixel camera, and the Bang & Olufsen ICEpower amplifier. Phones 4U has an exclusive on this little pink toy and pricing is set at £150 (roughly $300) if you pick it up on Orange. Follow the read to see a few more poses.

Launching on the Samsung Instinct -- pictured above and mentioned no less than six times in the PR material -- it'll see you picking up your Exchange mail, works both on and off-line, and even features searchable contacts. Not too shabby, huh? The price of admission you ask? Free for all those on Everything, Talk / Message / Data share, and the Vision Pro packages, all others can hop aboard for $9.99 a month. The software will be available via Sprint's mobile web downloads, and should support 11 more sets in the coming weeks. Rogers launches BlackBerry 8820, expects no rah, rah, sis boom bah

Rogers has seen fit to add yet another 'Berry to its collection, we give you the BlackBerry 8820. This sorta winsome device packs everything you know and love about the 8800 into a strikingly familiar package -- OK, identical -- package and adds WiFi for the Rogers Home Calling Zone UMA service. Excited about finally having some WiFi for all that web wandering you're doing during coffee break or while chilling at the water cooler? No need to be, like the recently announced BlackBerry 8120, the WiFi here only plays with the UMA service. Of course, it could well come with an OS refresh, so that might make a few smile, but other than that we think putting your money back in your pocket's the way to go. Pricing is set at $349 on 3 years with voice and data, $449 on a straight 3-year, and $499 (ouch!) on 2. Seriously Rogers, until you can release a half decent data plan -- iPhone data plan aside -- don't you think your loyal following deserve a little wireless break?

Rogers' and FIDO's iPhone 3G pricing and data plans revealed?

Howardforums user i.Fido (purveyor of fine rumors on several occasions) seems to have let the cat out of the bag as to what Canadians are likely going to be shelling out for plans with the iPhone 3G launch on July 11. Pricing seems to be set at $199 and $299 for the 8GB and 16GB handsets as new activations or for upgrades to a qualifying 2 or 3-year plan. Yes, you'll also need to grab yourself a data and voice plan, and options include a $30 unlimited Consumer Data Plan -- it's about freakin' time -- or $45 Enterprise Data Plan. Both of these include Visual Voicemail when subscribed to a voicemail plan, though, only the Corp. plan seems to let you get at your Exchange server for push mail. Of course, all is not lost if you don't qualify for the upgrade, as the note goes on to say that "Rogers has not determined the price of the 3G device for non-qualified upgrades." so we can only hope. True to what we've already heard, activations will be done in-store, you'll only be allowed to pick up three at a time, and prepaid's a no-go. So now that those details have potentially been put to rest, tell us Canada, still getting iPhone 3G next month?

Is AT&T prepping the Samsung i788 as the BlackJack 3?

Throw this one in your "hopes and dreams" stack friends, but the web's buzzing with rumors of the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional-powered Samsung i788 as AT&T's BlackJack 3. This new and freshly rumored device apparently will pack the 3G frequencies that the Samsung i780 doesn't have, stylus, optical touchpad, WiFi, HSDPA, GPS, and almost certainly be devoid of any type of forward-facing camera. Of course, all this is guesswork, and features could disappear -- bye bye, WiFi, GPS? -- or be added if and when it comes to market. Here's to more of the same, AT&T!

Sony Ericsson's TM506 for T-Mobile spied in FCC pages

We normally throw FCC goodness your way on Friday, but on occasion we can't help spilling the beans when they do. Today's treat seems to be a Sony Ericsson handset called the TM506, which, from outward appearances looks to be a clone of the Z780, but packs a wee bit of AWS love under its hood. Bedecked with T-Mobile branding and packed with goodies like Bluetooth, A-GPS, some type of camera, dual-band GSM, 1700 / 2100 WCDMA, and all wrapped in an alluring metallic green housing. Nice of Sony Ericsson to tack the TM -- which we're guessing stands for T-Mobile -- onto its set, perhaps this is evidence of Sony Ericsson attempting to rekindle a relationship after many years of nothing doing? Now that Sony Ericsson's doing its part, all we need is T-Mobile to follow suit with some fresh 3G airwaves for this to ride on. Go team.

Samsung double boils corn, makes SCH-W510 and SGH-F268

We've seen providers getting all green, and now it seems at least one of the big handset makers has seen fit to try a more earth-friendly approach. Samsung's W510 (pictured on left) and F268 sets, announced today at the World IT Show in Seoul, both feature a couple little dashes of greenery -- and are a decent first effort we'd wager. The W510 is made from a "bio-plastic" created with natural materials extracted from corn and its manufacturing process skips the use of lead, mercury, and other miserable ingredients. The F268 and its accessories don't contain any brominated flame retardants or PVC, and the handset features an alarm to let you know when it's charged and can be unplugged from the wall -- we like this one best, because while definitely green you could still brag a bit about it. The W510 packs a 2.1-inch screen, 2 megapixel camera, FM radio, Bluetooth, extra storage headroom via microSD, and should be landing in Korea this month. The F268 is a triple-band slider with a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, 2.1-inch VGA display, and also makes it debut this month in China. So there you have it friends, proof positive that green and cellular can be friends -- or have at least started flirting a bit.

HTC Touch Diamond lands on Vodafone's "coming soon" page

Sure, we may have run the HTC Touch Diamond into the ground in recent memory, but seeing as we're not remorseful bunch, here's a bit more. Vodafone's business shop has dropped the Touch Diamond on its pages, tangible proof that a real carrier launch is just around the corner. While still slated as coming soon, we now know it will be priced from £free and they're even throwing in a free Bluetooth car kit. Good on ya Vodafone, now hurry up already, we're awful tired of waiting.

Verizon's LG Decoy gets a quick once over: handset's great, headset's not

LaptopMag whipped out a quick review of Verizon's newest cell phone with piggybacking Bluetooth headset and for the most part, they like. The LG Decoy does seem to shine -- in fact they call it brilliant -- the pairing process with the headset's a breeze, they love that it charges while nestled in the back of the handset, and when not using little stowaway, the speakerphone is loud. Of course, there seem to be a few drawbacks, headset battery life is a pitiful 2 hours, the two-in-one combo at 4.1 ounces is a tad hefty, wind noise is a serious problem, and at $179 after discount, it's pricey. Follow the read link to read the rest and see a few more pics of it in action.

Sprint's Sanyo Pro-700 and Pro-200 QChat devices get fondled

Unmistakable, aren't they? Sure, it may have a new and fancy name, but QChat-enabled PTT devices aren't fooling anyone. Sprint's latest and greatest are both humming along on the EV-DO Rev. A network -- a must for QChat devices -- the Sanyo Pro-700 (on left) in a tough military fit and finish, and the Pro-200 a perfect fir for ma and pa. The gents at PhoneArena have had a quick mitts-on, so head on over if you're curious to get at a pile more pics of some pretty hot push-to-talk action.
